Quality Supervisor – Quality

Role:
The Quality Supervisor’s role is to oversee plant production quality by auditing systems, assessing raw materials, analyzing data, performing statistical studies and trials, issuing, and responding to corrective action requests, and problem solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with and coach all Quality Department associates to ensure compliance with all plant, and Occupational Health & Safety policies.
  • Perform all duties of a manager as outlined in the Internal Responsibilities section of the AirBoss Health & Safety program manual.
  • Manage and serve as a resource for the Quality Analyst, Supplier Quality Engineer, and Quality Control Lab teams. Communicate company policies, decision, and change positively and directly.
  • Oversee plant ISO 14001 compliance including: promote ISO awareness throughout the plant; advise AirBoss manager on improvement to procedures, work instructions, documentation, auditing, training,

and record keeping.

  • Serve as the Management Representative for Quality with the authority and responsibility for ensuring that all requirements of all pertinent standards are implemented and maintained.
  • Coordinate ISO surveillance audits with outside source for both SN & Kitchener facilities.
  • Prepare monthly reports on off-test, scrap material and Quality issues from customers and suppliers for presentation at QOS.
  • Manage all KPI data collection and distribution for review as part of the performance incentive program.
  • Facilitate monthly Quality Review meeting to review plant quality performance.
  • Respond to all corrective action requests issued by our customers.
  • Maintain a file on all suppliers listing the materials they supply, non-conformances attributed to them, and a current supplier rating.
  • Review supplier ratings in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager and Supplier Quality Engineer as deemed necessary perform supplier audits as required.
  • Review corrective action requests for raw material suppliers.
  • Assist the chemist with the comparative studies for new raw materials.
  • Maintain records on defective, discontinued, or over-aged raw materials.
  • Oversee statistical analysis, gauge R&R studies, and compound capability studies for our customers.
  • Assist the Quality Lab Supervisor in performing corrective equipment studies at customer sites.
  • Actively seek to resolve ongoing quality issues by collaborating with the Production and Technical groups to identify problems and initiate viable solutions.
  • Identify present and future test equipment needs for both labs to satisfy customer requirements. Establish procedures for testing and safety that meet requirements for ISO.
  • Supervise and/or assist in the implementation of new systems and procedures within ANC.
  • Complete a formal performance evaluation of direct reports once per year.
  • Attend the Senior Management meeting to discuss plant and quality issues, direction, and strategy.
  • Provide support, direct, guidance, and problem-solving assistance.
  • Organize and oversee the semi-annual Corporate Quality Meeting.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Science-related post-secondary degree
  • Minimum five years rubber industry experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Certified ISO auditor
  • Computer skills
  • Strong communication skills
