The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.

Corporate Risk Technology helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

As part of this we are transforming Operational Risk functions through the use of Technology.  We build out a common set of tools that risk managers in first and second lines of defense, as well as business teams, can use to transform risk management.  We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager –Operational Risk Technology to lead the strategy, development and implementation of the technology ecosystem which will drive this transformation.  This is a senior, highly-leveraged position which will be accountable for delivering strategic priorities for the bank.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, and enhance a technology strategy for Operational Risk, which includes identification of key digital enablers of business transformation, and planning of integrated, cohesive implementation
  • Manage the overall portfolio of technology delivery for operational risk, inclusive of planning, execution, resourcing, and budget
  • Build and manage relationships with key senior business leaders
  • Lead engineering team delivery throughout the SDLC, leveraging agile and waterfall processes
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a team of engineers and other technology staff, potentially including developing leading teams of technology leaders
  • Partner with business/product teams, engineers, and architecture to design applications
  • Ensure the team is applying engineering best practices, including delivery approaches, quality control, solution architecture, and dev-ops automation
  • Manage resources and financials to approved budget
  • Manage issues, risks, and status in partnership with project and portfolio management functions
  • Ensure applications are compliant with enterprise/technology standards and align with Technology strategy

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technology engineering experience
  • 6+ years of leadership and people management experience in a technology environment
  • 5+ years of experience with strategic planning in technology
  • 3+ years of risk and regulatory compliance experience
  • 7+ years of financial services industry experience
  • 2+ years of Big Data experience
  • 7 + years of direct report management experience including, but not limited to, assigning tasks, conducting performance evaluations and determining salary adjustments
  • 3+ years of experience with risk technology solution design

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 3+ years of Hibernate experience
  • 3+ years of JavaScript framework experience (YUI, Angular, Node)
  • 2+ years of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) experience

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years delivering cloud-based solutions (public and/or private)
  • 7+ years of experience with risk technology solution design

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
