Our location in Alameda, California, currently has an opportunity for a Director, Global Insights.

This critical role will plan, develop and implement strategic market research and competitive intelligence strategies to guide product development and marketing strategies which will profitably grow the Abbott Diabetes Care business.

This strategic leader directs the key functions and processes while working with the Divisional Vice President of Global Strategic Marketing in directing and managing the Abbott Diabetes Care organization to meet its strategic and tactical objectives.

The incumbent will direct market research strategy for all Abbott Diabetes Care products currently in development and on market.

WHAT YOU’LL DO Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following: Consult with the functional Marketing groups, to ensure plans and objectives are met.

Provide direction and strategy to develop metrics used in managing business and evaluating Abbott Diabetes Care and competitive performance.

Work with Divisional Vice President of Global Strategic Marketing to ensure that systems are in place to enable the business to operate in an efficient, legal and ethical manner.

The leader is expected to work closely with division leaders globally to both leverage and share insights across the company.

Guide the organization’s focus on the external environment across the 4Cs: Consumer (Patient), Customer (HCP & Retail Partners), Competitors and the Category and serves as a strategist for Abbott Diabetes Care Planning and critical business decisions.

Provide direction and strategy to develop metrics used in managing business and evaluating Abbott Diabetes Care and competitive performance.

Provide market data and analysis used in planning process.

Lead high performance team of experts.

Motivate and develop Market Research and Competitive Intelligence team to achieve goals and develop staff into the future senior Abbott leaders.

Create a client focused environment supporting key internal customers pursuant to Abbott Diabetes Care Strategy.

Design, implement and deliver all product market research and competitive analysis to the organization.

Develop primary and secondary market research plan and budget.

Develop the annual competitive intelligence plan.

Identify and manage syndicated research purchases to maximize information flow.

Manage vendor relationships, setting clear direction.

Maintain internal knowledgebase of insights, analysis, and project outcomes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING Required: Bachelor’s degree 10 years of experience in medical or consumer market research / marketing Preferred : Advanced degree 15 years of experience in medical or consumer market research / marketing Experience marketing in a highly regulated industry Experience in strategic thinking and ability to develop and implement communications plans Able to achieve results while dealing with ambiguity and a rapid pace of change WHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
