Back Line Cook

This is a Full-time position in Durham, NC posted September 29, 2021.

The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club is now seeking a Line Cook to join our Culinary Team. This is a full time position, requiring the successful candidate to be flexible and work varying AM /PM shifts and varying days each week.

Responsibilities: Maintains production and service of breakfast, lunch, or dinner line.

Duties:

· Reports to work dressed in proper attire and on time following proper clock in/out procedure as outlined in the employee handbook.

· Ensure efficient and proper set-up of assigned Station by time of service.

· Assist head cooks in production and service.

· Work in head cook’s absence, as specified in that position’s job description.

· Assist in other kitchen production, pantry and banquet as needed.

· Responsible for keeping position on line clean and sanitary during shift and completing daily checklists accurately.

· Supports and participates in hotel recycling program.

· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Lead Line Cook.

To do this kind of work, you must be able to:

Physical Demands: Lifting 35 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of
objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Math Skills: Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.

Language Skills: Must have developed English language skills to the point to be able to Communicate effectively (both written and orally) with other employees, guests or vendors
as needed.
Must be able to read and comprehend written information.

Specific Vocational Preparation: An occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on the job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.

To do this job you must have the following licenses or certifications before being hired: High
school diploma or equivalent required.

To do this job you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience: Two
years of experience in a cook’s position in a quality kitchen position.

NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day and that holidays such as
Christmas, New Years, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July or any other holidays are normal working days. Business levels will determine the amount of hours you work. Understand that you may be asked to work in other departments in a related position as required. Management retains the discretion to add and/or change the duties of this position at any time.
