The role reports to the Quality Manager and is located in Mebane, North Carolina. As a Quality Engineer Associate, you will be performing root cause analysis, communicate with customers, support the Quality Management System (QMS), analyze and trend defects, support activities to reduce cost of quality and other quality responsibilities as assigned.

Your responsibilities

  • Understand and be accountable for manufacturing metrics that pertain to the group (HSE, Quality, Service and Costout).
  • Drive efforts to support and meet production schedules, including productivity, quality and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Take responsibility for continuous improvement of production operations including safety, scheduling, quality, lean and training/development in assigned areas.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Management System documents such as manufacturing methods, technical documentation, and training documentation.
  • Practice analytical problem-solving incorporating use of strong math skills.
  • Utilize strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Acquire knowledge of plant and business quality IT systems as needed.
  • Demonstrate initiative to learn and seek improvement opportunities with minimal direction.
  • Support and maintain quality records in regard to supplier cases, customer cases, internal nonconformance reports, and internal audits.
  • Perform evaluations on internal/external issues and compiling corresponding technical reports.

Your background

  • Associate Degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Degree has a focus in electronics or electrical systems OR 2 years experience with electrical/electronics testing.
  • Minimum 1 year in quality.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in measurement tools (meters, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • Demonstrate understanding of quality procedures and concepts.
  • Demonstrated lean manufacturing participation.
  • Demonstrated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) participation and support.
  • Must have the flexibility to rotate and flex to any area of production, as needed.
  • Must be committed to team success and embrace continuous improvement.
  • Possess a strong desire to grow and learn new manufacturing processes.
