Sr Software Engineer Leader (Asset Management)

Responsibilities

As a Sr.

Software Engineer leader in our Principal Global Investors (PGI) area, you’ll align with our asset management and funds platform business helping us to modernize and further leverage systems, advancing our strategy of hosted and cloud solutions, as well as evolving engineering practices!

Here are few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

Regularly deliver software on-time and constantly work to make accurate estimates and deliver on those estimates.

Manage and develop staff in an effective manner to promote individual development, improve retention, and ensure success in a team environment.

Drive DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation.

Set technical direction for the team in proactively establishing controls and ensure system is secure and meets policy and regulatory requirements during development.

Ability to demonstrate design thinking and create solution architectures.

Own design and solution architecture for team’s work; can span multiple systems.

Know the latest industry trends.

Nurture external contacts and peer group interaction.

Advise business partners on future technical trends/directions to meet business strategy initiatives.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience) and 6+ years related work experience or equivalent experience

Formal leadership experience

Past experience in software engineering/programming

Asset management experience

Excellent leadership, problem solving, analytical, and decision making skills are required

Strong oral and written communication skills are vital

Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow

Additional preferred technical experience:

Relationship management experience with 3rd party vendors

DevOps

Cloud platforms (we use AWS)

Experience with Charles River

This position may require on-call responsibilities.

Work Environments

This role offers the ability for in-office, hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements.

You’ll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
