General Manager – Marine Construction

Client Our Client is a leading provider of waterfront structure construction and marine construction services in the Southeastern United States. The Company specializes in commercial marine construction and is especially adept in blueprint interpretation, estimating, and working with the Professional Engineering & Architectural communities in the planning, design, and construction of complex commercial tasks. The Company’s most valuable resource is its staff of knowledgeable, experienced, and goal-driven personnel. Scope The General Manager will have extensive knowledge and experience aids in solving difficult strategic and logistical issues on a wide variety of projects and will be essential to the company’s growth in all phases of construction, which allow consistent delivery of the best results in the industry. The Company owns an extensive fleet of state-of-the-art, well-maintained construction equipment. This fleet gives the Company the diversity to perform a wide variety of services, especially those that require custom low ground pressure (LGP) and floating type equipment. Location The Company is centrally located in the North Carolina Outer Banks, for its preferred service area of coastal North Carolina and Virginia. The Company also has a Virginia Waterfront Operations and Maintenance Operations center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Responsibilities The General Manager will oversee the overall business, P&L, contract negotiations, employees, and projects. Provide leadership and direction to the construction team. The General Manager will oversee Marine Construction/Repair/Restoration projects, ensuring the projects are performed to specification, are done on time, and on budget. Responsible for the bidding process, finding jobs to bid, and leading the bidding process. Following the jobs to fruition – ensuring safety and adhering to the budget. Establish work plans and assign field operations professionals with detailed construction plans ensuring the strategic implementation and logistics of a wide variety of projects. Drive the development of employees Ensure that quality of work or service is maintained Qualifications Several years of hands-on Marine or Shoreline Construction/Repair/Restoration experience Demonstrated ability to lead and manage employees Experience with quoting Marine or Shoreline Construction projects Experience with running heavy equipment, so they understand details involved in a bid/quote Comfortable working with budgets, revenue, and forecasting Strong communications skills A Civil Engineering background is a plus, but not required
